How to backup Lubuntu linux important folders like documents, music,
pictures, videos and downloads
1. Create a folder "backup" on your desktop
2. Open text editor like Kate or Gedit
copy and paste code:
#!/bin/bash
clear
tar cvpzf /home/YOURUSERNAME/Desktop/backup/Documents.tgz ~/Documents
tar cvpzf /home/YOURUSERNAME/Desktop/backup/Music.tgz ~/Music
tar cvpzf /home/YOURUSERNAME/Desktop/backup/Pictures.tgz ~/Pictures
tar cvpzf /home/YOURUSERNAME/Desktop/backup/Videos.tgz ~/Videos
tar cvpzf /home/YOURUSERNAME/Desktop/backup/Downloads.tgz ~/Downloads
tar cvpzf /home/YOURUSERNAME/Desktop/backup_`date'+%d%m%y'`.tgz /home/YOURUSERNAME/Desktop/backup
3. Replace YOURUSERNAME with your user name on your lubuntu linux
installation
4. Save this file as backup.sh to /home/YOURUSERNAME
5. type in terminal or copy and paste
chmod +x backup.sh
and press enter
6. Start your backup by entering
./backup.sh
in terminal
Copy your backup to flash drive, google drive, etc.
